ETD (Electronic Transit Declaration)

ETD (Electronic Transit Declaration)

ETD (Electronic Transit Declaration) is an electronic document submitted to customs authorities when transporting goods under the transit procedure.

Simply put, it is a digital version of the transit declaration that accompanies the cargo when it moves through one or several countries without customs clearance during transit.

What ETD contains

The electronic transit declaration includes:

  • information about the consignor and consignee
  • accurate description of goods
  • value and quantity of goods
  • transportation route
  • transport details (vehicle number, trailer, etc.)

ETD helps speed up border crossing, reduce paperwork, and increase transparency of transportation.

To prepare an electronic transit declaration, the following documents are required:

  • commercial and transport documents (CMR, invoice, packing list);
  • specification in Word or Excel format;
  • description of goods in Russian;
  • vehicle documents (technical passport);
  • identification document of the carrier’s representative (driver);
  • power of attorney for the driver (if no long-term contract is concluded);
